my baby is 2 months am breastfeeding and suplimenting with formula, between nan 1 and s26 which is better
Nan (Nestle) and S26 (Wyeth) are products made by different companies but targetted for the same group; young infants. Both brands are high quality brands. Parents make a choice between the brands depending on personal experiences and preferences. Sometimes, they are fortified to cater for the nutritional needs of different babies. For instance, some do not have lactose because there are some babies that are lactose intolerant and suffer stomach discomfort when they have the milk. Some others are fortified with iron to cater for extra iron requirements for babies born premature or who are found to be iron deficient. This information is always available on the labels and on accompanying informational inserts. Thus, for each of these brands, you can make a choice of the sub-type that you want depending on your baby's needs and considering advice from your nutritionist and doctor.
Having said all these, I would like to tout the advantages of breast milk over other supplements. Breast milk has been shown to improve neurological development, is associated with reduced incidence of asthma in children born to mothers who have a history of allergies, and is associated with a reduction in the incidence of chest and gut infections in children. Of course for practical reasons, it may not always be possible to give your baby breast milk at all times but one should try to ensure that this is the predominant feed that a baby gets in the first 6 months of life.
