It would be good to know what the rash looks like. How did the parents know it was meat that was the problem? Did the reaction dissappear with the withdrawal of some foods? Do the parents have a history of allergies in their families and what sort are they?
One of the most common skin problems children have is atopic dermatitis (eczema). Typically, they are dry, scaly rashes that occur on the face and scalp and the flexural regions. It is episodic, with intermittent periods of flares and remission.In some cases it may be continuous. It has a strong genetic component. Many cases will improve or clear in childhood. Some children go on to develop asthma and/or allergic rhinitis.Treatment normally initally entails the use of mild topical steroids and emmollients.
